ISLAMABAD: Eidul Azha is being celebrated across Pakistan with deep religious devotion, enthusiasm, and traditional solemnity, as millions of Muslims attended Eid prayers in cities and towns nationwide.
Large congregations were held in major cities including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Rawalpindi, where worshippers offered Eid prayers in mosques, Eidgahs, and open grounds, following the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.).
Special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s peace, stability, prosperity, and unity, along with collective supplications for the Muslim Ummah. Prayers were also made for Muslims in Palestine and Indian-administered Kashmir, according to worshippers and religious leaders.
Religious scholars, in their sermons, highlighted the significance of sacrifice, compassion, patience, and brotherhood, emphasizing that Eidul Azha teaches believers to submit to the will of God and support those in need.
In Islamabad, one of the largest Eid congregations was held at the Faisal Mosque, where a large number of worshippers, including political and social figures as well as foreign diplomats, participated in Eid prayers.
In Lahore, thousands gathered at the historic Badshahi Mosque and other major mosques across the city. Similarly, large Eid gatherings were reported at prominent mosques in Karachi and Peshawar.
In Rawalpindi, Eid prayers were offered at multiple locations including Eidgahs, mosques, and community grounds such as Liaquat Bagh, Mohra Sharif, and other venues, where citizens gathered in large numbers.
After prayers, people embraced one another and exchanged Eid greetings, marking the beginning of sacrificial rituals across the country. Livestock markets and households saw widespread animal sacrifice, with meat distributed among family members, neighbors, and the needy.
Children dressed in new clothes added to the festive atmosphere, while households prepared traditional meals including kebabs, curries, and barbecue dishes for guests and relatives.
Authorities deployed security personnel across major cities to ensure peace and order during Eid gatherings and sacrificial activities. Municipal teams were also stationed to maintain cleanliness and manage waste disposal during the festival.
Religious scholars reiterated that Eidul Azha embodies the values of sacrifice, obedience to God, patience, and compassion for humanity, urging citizens to continue practicing these values beyond the festive occasion.
