QUETTA: Security forces have killed four more militants during ongoing operations under Operation Shaaban, taking the total number of militants eliminated in the campaign to 71, according to security sources.

The joint operation, involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan and police, is continuing against militant elements in various parts of the province.

Security sources said the latest action was carried out in the Saran Tangi area, where security personnel engaged militants in a targeted operation and killed four of them. The operation forms part of a broader counterterrorism campaign aimed at dismantling militant networks and their facilitators.

According to the sources, a total of 109 militants have been killed in multiple operations conducted since July 5. Security forces are continuing intelligence-based operations to track down remaining militants and their support networks.

Officials said efforts are underway to clear affected areas and prevent militants from regrouping, while operations will continue until all identified threats are neutralized.

1,686 Undocumented Afghans Detained in Major Balochistan Crackdown

Earlier, Security forces have detained 1,686 undocumented Afghan nationals during a crackdown in Balochistan’s border districts, officials said on Sunday.

According to official sources, the action was carried out through 40 successful operations aimed at curbing illegal migration and dismantling human smuggling networks operating in the region.

The sources said that 1,257 of those taken into custody have already been repatriated, while the remaining individuals are undergoing legal and administrative procedures before deportation.

Authorities described illegal migration and human smuggling networks as a significant challenge to national security, public order and economic stability. They said security forces are strictly enforcing border management measures and relevant laws to prevent unlawful cross-border movement.

Officials added that efforts are continuing to identify and dismantle organized smuggling networks, while ensuring the complete removal of undocumented foreign nationals residing in the country.

The government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening border security and enforcing immigration laws as part of broader measures to maintain stability and uphold the rule of law.
