PESHAWAR: The real facts regarding the notification about Friday and Saturday holidays for educational institutions have come to light and the notification turned out to be fake.
According to details, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has declared the notification circulating on social media regarding Friday and Saturday holidays for educational institutions as fake.
The education department said that a fake notification was circulating on social media, which caused concern and confusion among students, parents and teachers regarding the weekly schedule of educational institutions.
The fake notification claimed that government and private educational institutions would remain closed on Friday and Saturday for two months as part of fuel-saving measures.
The document also claimed that all primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities in the province would have holidays every Friday and Saturday, while academic activities would continue as normal for the remaining 4 days.
It should be noted that earlier in June 2026, during the petroleum crisis, academic days were also limited and special instructions were issued for summer camps to compensate for academic loss. Officials say that this is a temporary measure and decisions will be reviewed as soon as conditions improve.
