With the end of spring vacations in the Upper Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, all government and private educational institutions have reopened.
As soon as the schools have resumed their activities, the Education Department has formally launched the “Admission Drive 2026” for the new academic year, which aims to equip every child in the district with the jewel of education.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has set a big target for Upper Dir this year. According to the report a target of 23,000 new children has been set to be admitted to schools across the district.
35 percent of this target has been achieved in the initial phase of the admission drive, which is a testament to the hard work of the district administration and teachers. The attendance of students in schools was exemplary on the first day after the holidays.
Teachers welcomed new and old students, while a large number of parents are heading to schools to get their children admitted. Education department officials say that even in remote hilly areas, parents are being made aware of the importance of education by going door to door so that no child is left out of school.
According to district education officers “Our goal is not only to admit children but also to provide them with quality education. Achieving the 35 percent target is a positive start, and we hope that by the due date, we will complete the target of admitting 23,000 children.”
The government has also started providing free books and other educational incentives to newly admitted children so that the burden on poor parents is not put on them and the literacy rate can increase.
