ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has officially announced the National Women’s Hockey Championship to take place in Islamabad in the second week of July 2026.

A total of five major teams including Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and other regions will compete in the event. The tournament is expected to serve as a major milestone in promoting and expanding girls’ participation in hockey across Pakistan.

According to the PHF, the Primary objective of the championship is to encourage young women players, provide them with professional training and quality exposure, and create a competitive pathway. This pathway will enable them to represent Pakistan at the national and international level, just like their male counterparts.

The initiative will lay the foundation for a strong and sustainable system for girls’ hockey in the country, the PHF officials said hoping that, this step will mark the beginning of a bright and successful future for Pakistan hockey.
