ISLAMABAD: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued an important advisory for overseas Pakistanis, warning them against sharing personal identification documents with unauthorized individuals or agencies.
In its statement, National Database and Registration Authority said there are no authorized consultants, agents, or dealers available who can handle the ID documents or online application forms of overseas Pakistanis.
The authority clarified that all official services are provided only through NADRA Registration Centers and designated counters established at Pakistani embassies abroad. A list of authorized facilities is available on the official NADRA website.
Further, NADRA revealed that its online services are only available via its official Pak ID mobile app as well as the official website of the organization that ends with “gov.pk.”
In addition, NADRA asked the overseas Pakistani community not to give out any personal information to anyone who claims to be working for NADRA.
NADRA introduces new guidelines for identity card issuance
Meanwhile, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued new instructions regarding the issuance of national identity cards, introducing updated rules aimed at simplifying the application process and reducing the risk of forgery.
As per the revised regulations, signatures would become optional for CNIC applicants, who do not have signatures and are making their application for the first time. In case a person does not choose to give his/her signature, “N/A” will be written in lieu of the signature in the signature column of the identity card.
Officials stated that thumb impressions or anything else other than signatures will no longer be placed in lieu of signatures on identity cards. Applicants were asked not to upload thumb impression photos using any mobile application due to the fear of misuse and fraud.
A spokesman for NADRA announced that an awareness campaign is underway for the illiterate population who cannot write their signatures for the purpose of updating them on the revised policies and application procedure.
The authority clarified that those citizens, who wanted to update or add signatures in future, would need to fill out the correction request form for the same.
