KHYBER: The Bara Gate project, launched 10 years ago to enhance the beauty of Bara, has been abandoned instead of being completed, causing losses worth millions to the national exchequer.
According to details, the project was initiated a decade ago to upgrade and beautify the Bara area. However, authorities have now decided to scrap it rather than finish the incomplete work.
The decision has sparked criticism as millions of rupees already spent on construction, design, and materials will now go to waste. Officials say the abrupt termination of the project reflects poor planning and lack of follow-through by successive administrations.
Local residents expressed disappointment, saying the unfinished structure has become an eyesore and a symbol of wasted public funds. They urged the government to review the decision and either complete the project or hold those responsible for the losses accountable.
