KOHAT – At least four policemen were critically injured when miscreants attacked the Shadipur Police check Post in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
According to police sources, armed miscreants launched a sudden attack on the Shadipur check post, opening indiscriminate fire. As a result, four police personnel deployed at the post sustained severe injuries.
Rescue teams and additional police contingents rushed to the spot immediately after the attack. The injured policemen were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Kohat for emergency treatment.
Hospital sources said the condition of two injured is critical. Following the attack, security has been put on high alert across Kohat.
A heavy contingent of police and security forces reached the site, cordoned off the area and launched a search and strike operation to trace the attackers.
The police have started investigation into the incident. Initial reports suggest it was a targeted terrorist attack on the police check post.No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has seen a surge in attacks on police check posts and security forces in recent months, particularly in Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan belt. Police remain on high alert in the southern districts.
