PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary Information Shaukat Yousafzai has written a letter to the party leadership calling for the immediate postponement of the long march.
In his letter addressed to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and other leaders, Shaukat Yousafzai said that in the wider interest of the country, the long march should be postponed immediately. He said the protest should be deferred in view of external threats and the rise in terrorism.
He wrote that the federal government wants to impose an emergency based on certain issues, and instead of confrontation with the state, the path for negotiations should be paved. A possible attack from Afghanistan could be used as a justification for an emergency, he added.
Yousafzai further said that the federal government is building a narrative of non-cooperation against the KP government, and there could be an attempt to topple the provincial government. He warned that the party could be banned by accusing it of supporting terrorism.
“PTI founding chairman Imran Khan had also ended the long march in the past to protect the lives of workers. My submissions should be taken seriously,” Shaukat Yousafzai said.
