SWAT: The death toll in the tragic boat accident in Saifullah Lake in Upper Swat has risen to 6, while a woman is still missing, and rescue operations is continue to find her.

According to Upper Swat Development Authority spokesperson Saeed-ur-Rehman, the bodies of all 6 people who lost their lives in the accident have been handed over to their relatives after completing legal proceedings, who have been sent to Lahore.

He said that a search operation was resumed from 5 am today to search for the missing woman, in which rescue personnel, Upper Swat Development Authority, police and other relevant agencies are fully participating.

Officials say that the rescue operation will continue uninterrupted until the search for the woman is completed.

According to the spokesperson, initial investigations have revealed that the accident occurred when the boat went beyond the safe limits.

During this time, the boat’s engine and generator stopped, due to which the boat met with an accident.

A case has been registered against the boat operator after the incident, while police operations are underway to arrest the accused.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Chief Secretary have taken strict notice of the incident and issued instructions for a complete and transparent investigation.

They have ordered strict legal action against the elements responsible for negligence or carelessness.

Officials say that if the SOPs are found to be violated during the investigation, action will be taken against the boat operators concerned as per the law.

The administration has made it clear that the search and rescue operation will continue until the missing woman is recovered.
