PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Education Department has identified 34 public school teachers across the province who are illegally operating unauthorized social media pages under the department’s name, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

In a direct crackdown on institutional misinformation, the Education Department has ordered immediate disciplinary action against the accused educators, who span various teaching cadres. The formal show-cause notices are being dispatched today by the respective District Education Officers (DEOs) and the Directorate of Education.

According to department officials, these self-appointed, unofficial sites have been constantly reporting inaccurate reports and misinformation, which have caused confusion among students, parents, and the general populace.

“These unofficial sites are creating confusion by spreading misinformation,” said a senior education official.

In addition to targeting the 34 identified individuals, the KP Education Department has issued fresh directives to trace and identify other teachers or departmental employees running similar illegal digital platforms across different districts of the province.
