PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker, Babar Salim Swati, has sent the resolution of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peace Jirga 2025 to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The resolution unanimously accepted in the provincial peace conference describes a common approach to the enactment of the peace in the province, which is going to last.
In the accompanying letter, Speaker Swati made a point that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peace Jirga 2025 was an event to which the elected representatives from the provincial assembly, various political parties, stakeholders, and relevant institutions participated. The primary purpose of the Jirga was to develop a common action plan that would promote peace, stability, and public trust in the area.
The resolution stated that military operations alone cannot solve the tangled security issues of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It indicates the necessity of broad-based consultation, political reconciliation, and public trust as the essential factors for the eventual peace to last.
The statement underscores that the prevailing and secure setting of the region is only possible through the uniting of all stakeholders including the security apparatus and the political influencers, in an effort that is coordinated.
The Jirga ended with all the parties reaching a consensus and passing a joint declaration described as a “guiding framework” for the peace and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Moreover, the Speaker sought the backing of the federal government for the proper execution of the Peace Jirga 2025 proclamation. He pointed out that the federal government’s partnership is very important for the safeguarding of the populace and for the tranquillity in the area.
Speaker Swati ended up with this by asking for the continued cooperation of provincial and federal governments in establishing the future for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that is full of peace, stability, and security.
