PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced major reforms in the domicile issuance system to make the process faster, transparent, and citizen-friendly.
Under the new policy, people with Nadra-verified cases will now receive their domicile certificate within a single day. According to officials, the reforms are part of the Business Process Re-engineering BPR model aimed at digitizing the entire domicile system to eliminate delays and ensure transparency. The upgraded domicile software will be linked with the “Dastak App” and Nadra’s CRVS system for real-time verification. For residents whose address has not changed in the last 3 years, domicile will be issued immediately after biometric verification.
Citizens can now complete biometric verification through Nadra’s Pak ID App or at e-Khidmat centers, removing the need for repeated office visits. For cases where the address was changed between 1 and 3 years, verification will be completed within 3 days. Cases with recent address changes will be scrutinized by the district committee and processed within 10 days.
Officials said the purpose of these reforms is to reduce public hardship, cut bureaucratic delays, and make the domicile issuance process smooth and transparent. The move is expected to bring ease of doing business and provide better facilities to students, job seekers, and other citizens who require a domicile for admissions and government jobs. The KP government says this step aligns with its broader agenda of digital governance and efficient public service delivery.
