The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government proposed to restore taxes of Rs 65 billion which were abolished in the previous terms of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

In this connection, it is being considered that restoration of 55 metropolitan taxes in the provincial budget of the new fiscal year 2026-27, Reduction in bed tax in hotels, and proposals to reduce excise and CAPRA taxes have been rejected.

Besides this, restoration of more than 55 taxes of Metropolitan Peshawar is expected in the budget of the new fiscal year. Proposals were made to restore taxes of various provincial and district taxes that were abolished in previous periods. Proposals to reduce the bed tax have been given. Proposals have also been made to reduce excise and KPRA  taxes, but these have been rejected. Requests for reduction and revision of various provincial taxes have been rejected.

Printing of 18% sales tax on duty on food items made mandatory, packaging of more than 3,000 items to be changed. From July 01, it is likely to be made mandatory to print the price and 18% sales tax on the packaging of refrigerators, ACs, and washing machines, including canned milk, yogurt, frozen yogurt, kebabs, toothpaste, and ketchup.

From July 1, the packaging of more than 3,000 items in 20 categories will be changed, including canned milk, yogurt, cheese, milk cream, tea cream, packaged milk powder, fat milk, baby milk, porridge, baby soft foods, and food products.
