The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Department of Primary and Secondary Education has stepped up administrative preparations for holding the Summer Learning and Grooming Festival across the province during July 2026.
Necessary instructions have been issued to all concerned districts in this regard while requests for obtaining security clearance (NOC) for the successful conduct of the festival have also been sent to the concerned authorities. According to officials, the festival will run from July 4 to July 29, 2026 and aims to further improve the academic, mental, physical, moral and leadership abilities of students.
As per the instructions issued by the education department, 50 government schools will be selected from each district of the province. Three students and one teacher from each selected school will participate in the festival. The program will only include students from class six (6) to class twelve (12) so that more mature and active students can benefit from various educational and training activities.
The education department has directed all districts to submit the complete data of participants in the required format on Monday so that accommodation, transport, food and other arrangements can be completed in a timely manner. Timely data provision will play a key role in making administrative affairs effective, officials say.
This year, the host districts of the festival include Abbottabad, Swat, Mansehra and Upper Dir, where arrangements will be made for students to stay in various educational institutions and campuses. A total of about 22,800 students while 1,064 support staff will participate in the festival. Special arrangements are being made for safe accommodation, quality food, transportation, medical facilities and various educational and recreational activities for the participants.
According to official documents, the total expenditure on the festival is estimated at Rs 116.28 million. The money will be spent on student accommodation, food, transportation, training activities, sports, cultural programs and other administrative needs. The government’s position is that such programs are of utmost importance for the all-round personality development of students.
Regarding security, the Department of Primary and Secondary Education has issued special instructions to the concerned Deputy Commissioners, District Administration and Law Enforcement Agencies to ensure full-proof security during the movement, accommodation and all activities of students. Since the participants will be transferred from different districts and remote areas to the host districts, all possible safety measures will be taken during their travel and stay.
The government has also directed other concerned agencies to play an active role in the festival. The forest department has been asked to ensure the involvement of students in tree planting drives and activities related to environmental protection to promote environmentally friendly attitudes among the younger generation. Similarly, the PDMA has been directed to remain in constant contact regarding monsoon rains, weather situation and any emergency situation so that possible threats posed by climate change can be addressed in a timely manner.
According to officials, Summer Learning and Grooming Festival 2026 is not just an educational activity but a comprehensive program to promote personality building, leadership abilities, confidence, creative thinking, teamwork, social harmony and moral training of students.
The government says that all relevant agencies are actively working to make this project of national importance a success, however, the highest priority is being given to the safety, security and best arrangements of the students so that the participants can fully express their talents in a safe, positive and constructive environment.
