The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the annual wheat quota for 2026 and fixed the official price of flour in the province.
According to the Food Department, flour mills across KP will be provided 2,000 metric tons of wheat daily. The Food Directorate has issued district-wise daily quotas. Government wheat will be supplied to flour mills at Rs 11,200 per 100 kg.
After the wheat release, the ex-mill price of a 20 kg flour bag has been fixed at Rs 2,500, while the retail price has been set at Rs 2,520 per 20 kg bag. The Food Department has made CCTV cameras mandatory in all operational flour mills.
Mills have been directed to keep a minimum of 30 days of video recording. Wheat supply will be made according to the approved 2026 SOPs. Action will be taken if moisture content in government flour exceeds 13.5%.
As per the quota, Peshawar district will receive the highest 218 metric tons of wheat daily. Mardan will get 125, Swabi 87, and Charsadda 84 metric tons per day. Nowshera has been allocated 80, Lower Dir 76, Swat 74 metric tons per day, while Bajaur and Upper Chitral will receive 59 metric tons daily each.
Officials said the daily quota has been set according to the population of each district. Divisional and district officers have been issued directives, and wheat delivery to mills will be ensured in phases. The government says the new system aims to ensure transparent supply of government wheat, improve flour quality, and provide flour to the public at fixed rates.
