Provincial Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi announced a significant increase in grant from 4.5 billion to 10 billion rupees from the fund of higher education and vowed to continue increasing the education budget of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the betterment of the students.
The first and historic convocation of its kind was held at Khushhal Khan Khattak University, Karak, in which Provincial Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi attended as the chief guest. During the ceremony, degrees were distributed to students graduating from various departments of the university, while 75 lucky students who showed outstanding academic performance were awarded gold medals. MPA Khurshid Khattak, former provincial minister Sajjad Barakwal, and other important personalities also attended the convocation.
In his address, the provincial minister highlighted the education budget and policies and said that the government is significantly increasing the budget of universities. He said that all the arrears of the previous years have been paid, and the provincial government has decided to increase the education budget from Rs 36 billion to Rs 50 billion. Similarly, the grant for higher education has been increased from Rs 4.5 billion to Rs 10 billion.
Provincial Minister Mina Khan Afridi, while addressing the convocation, congratulated the students who received degrees and said that these youths are the future of our nation, and many hopes are attached to them. He also inaugurated the newly installed solar system and modern psychology laboratory in the university on this occasion.

While giving good news to the students, Meena Khan Afridi said that this year, not only is the number of domestic scholarships being increased, but also the foreign scholarship program is being started. In addition, a 100 percent ‘paid internship’ is being started for fresh graduates so that the youth can get experience in their field as well as get proper remuneration.
While discussing the political situation, the provincial minister also expressed his concerns and said that Pashtuns are being treated like stepmothers and are not being given their legitimate rights; however, the provincial government is taking all possible steps for education and youth development within its resources.
