PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Fesal Karim Kundi observed Kashmir Exploitation Day today to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
He addressed Kashmir exploitation day rally in Peshawar, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir.
Speaking at the event, the Governor said, “Today we are observing Kashmir Exploitation Day with our Kashmiri people. Today Muslims from around the world have come together to express solidarity with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters.”
He highlighted Pakistan’s role as a proponent of peace, stating, “Pakistan has always talked about peace and security. When there was a US-Iran conflict, Pakistan played the role of peace. Today every media outlet in the world says that Pakistan is a proponent of peace.” Governor Kundi assured Kashmiris of Pakistan’s continued backing: “We want to tell our Kashmiri brothers and sisters that we stand shoulder to shoulder with you.
“We will not allow Kashmir to become occupied Kashmir. We are united for Kashmir, and the day is not far when Kashmir will be free.” The rally was part of nationwide events marking Kashmir Solidarity Day, with participants expressing support for the right to self-determination of the people of Kashmir.
A one-minute silence will be observed at 9am across the country. Sirens will be sounded and traffic will remain stopped for one minute during the observance. The day is being observed on the completion of seven years since India revoked the special constitutional status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir on 5 August 2019.
On the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, people across Pakistan are observing one-minute silence at 9:00 am to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Sirens will be sounded during the silence, while traffic will also be halted for one minute.
Rallies, walks, seminars, conferences, prayer gatherings and photo exhibitions will be held in federal and provincial capitals, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and other cities. Essay writing and speech competitions will also be arranged to highlight the struggle of the Kashmiri people. National and Kashmiri flags will be raised on government buildings.
Pakistan’s embassies abroad will hold special events to draw international attention towards the situation in occupied Kashmir.
