PESHAWAR (Kashif Aziz): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi conferred Pakistan’s highest civil awards on 33 distinguished personalities for their valuable services across various walks of life.

A grand ceremony was held at the Governor’s House, Peshawar, on Wednesday, where Governor KP, Faisal Karim Kundi, conferred the awards.

The honours included the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Presidential Award for Excellence, Tamgha Shujaat, and Tamgha Imtiaz, recognising exceptional performance in public service, defence, sports, journalism, literature, and the arts.

In total, Governor Kundi presented the Sitara-e-Imtiaz to 8 personalities, the Presidential Award for Excellence to 2, the Tamgha Shujaat to 11, and the Tamgha Imtiaz to 12 individuals. In the field of public service, Arshad Majeed, SSP Atta-ur-Rehman, Shahabuddin Khan, Muhammad Israr, and Syed Salman Rehman received the Sitara-e-Imtiaz. Posthumous recognition was also given to Shaheed Rehan Zeb for public service, while cricketer Sana Mir was honoured in the sports category and Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi in journalism. The Presidential Award for Excellence was bestowed upon Jamshed Ali Khan for Arts and Direction and Aminullah Daudzai for Literature and Poetry.

For bravery and valour, the Tamgha Shujaat was awarded to Omar Tufail, Captain (retd) Najm-ul-Hussein Liaquat, Saeed Manan, Malik Gohar Ali, Sepoy Basitullah, Sepoy Samiullah Shah, Sepoy Sabir Ali, Sepoy Sahib Din, DSP Pir Syed Khan, ASI Saleh Muhammad, and Nawab Adil Khan. In other categories, Tariq Mahmood Jadoon was recognised in education, Muhammad Hamza Khan in squash, and Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi for religious services. Journalism honours under the Tamgha Shujaat were awarded to Syed Samar Abbas and Mona Alam.

The Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for public service was presented to Dr Muhammad Akif Khan, Muhammad Zahoor Awan, Muhammad Hilal, Naik Safid Khan, Abdul Rahim, Abidullah, and Muhammad Ali Swati. The ceremony was attended by a large number of civil and military officials, including Commandant Federal Constabulary Muhammad Riaz Nazir Gara, department heads, and families of the awardees, all of whom gathered to pay tribute to the recipients’ dedicated services.
