The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Department on Friday ended the ‘work from home’ facility in connection with budget preparations and declared Friday a regular ‘working day’.

According to the details, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has initiated administrative measures for the timely completion of the budget for the next financial year. With the regular start of the budget cycle, the Finance Department has issued new instructions regarding the attendance and availability of officers and employees.

The notification issued by the Finance Department said that, keeping in mind the sensitivity and workload of budget preparations, the ‘work from home’ facility has ended on Friday. Now Friday has been declared a regular ‘working day’ so that there is no delay in budget-related matters.

The following strict decisions have been taken to ensure the availability of the budget team at all times; the officers of the Finance Department will now not be able to leave the station (city) without permission.

The notification clarified that even if an officer is on leave, he will have to ensure his availability for emergency budget-related matters. All concerned officers have been directed to be ready to reach the office immediately if called at any time during the budget preparation.

Finance department officials say that these measures aim to make the budget preparation process transparent, fast, and error-free, as the provincial government wants the upcoming budget to be presented on time after completing all legal and administrative steps, for which additional working hours are also being started in the finance department.
