PESHAWAR: The 56th meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet will now be held at 2 PM today at the Cabinet Room of the Civil Secretariat, Peshawar, under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. The meeting was earlier scheduled for 12 PM.
Several important policy, administrative, education, health and development matters from different departments will be presented for approval during the meeting.
In the education sector, the Elementary and Secondary Education Department will propose introducing a new system for KG to Class 5, and later for Class 6 to 8, for the academic year 2027-28. The agenda also includes providing 100 percent free textbooks to all students from Class 9 to 12.
In health, approval will be sought for financial assistance for the treatment of 21 deserving patients and applicants. Proposals related to the creation of stipendiary house job seats, an increase in stipends, and additional grants will also be presented to the cabinet.
In law and justice, the cabinet will consider transferring 10 kanals of Agriculture Engineering Department land for the construction of Tehsil Judicial Complex Ekha Ghund to the Peshawar High Court. Amendments to the Provincial Ombudsman Employees Rules 2025 are also on the agenda.
For public-private partnership, the Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development will seek approval for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Private Partnership Authority Bill 2026.
The cabinet will also discuss the nomination of 6 private members and one local MPA from District Swat for the Upper Swat Development Authority USDA Board.
An important decision regarding victims in District Bajaur is also expected. The Relief and Rehabilitation Department has sought approval for enhanced compensation for civilians killed or injured in targeted operations against militants.
Other key items include consultation with the Election Commission of Pakistan on holding local government elections in KP, appointment of the Chief Executive Officer Charities Commission, amendments to the Project Implementation Policy 2022, and other administrative and development issues.
