KARAK: One police officer was martyred and six others were injured in a remote-controlled blast targeting a police vehicle in the jurisdiction of Thana Khurram near Ghoul Dam in Karak.
According to police sources, the police team was heading toward Dargah Shaheedan in an official vehicle for a search operation when the police mobile was struck by an IED on the way.
The explosion overturned the police vehicle. Those injured in the blast were identified as Noor Shah Ali, Syed Shah, Imran, Yaseen, Shamim, Riaz and driver Wajid. Later, driver Wajid succumbed to his injuries and was martyred.
The injured personnel were shifted to the hospital for medical treatment. Following the incident, police cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence. Further investigation into the nature of the blast and the incident is underway. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
