Lower Dir: Central Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has announced that the party will file a petition in the Islamabad courts challenging the country’s petroleum levy.
Speaking at a public gathering in Lower Dir, he described the petroleum levy as “a severe injustice” and criticized the rising fuel prices, which he said are putting immense pressure on ordinary citizens. He further declared that Jamaat-e-Islami would launch a decisive march towards Islamabad after Eid al-Adha to protest inflation.
He called for a broader struggle against the current system, targeting what he described as entrenched elites, including top bureaucrats, landlords, investors, and mafias, who have dominated governance for decades. “We will not just trim branches of this system, we aim to uproot it entirely,” he said.
JI chief also challenged other political parties, including PTI, PML-N, and JUI, to compete in the field of education, citing the thousands of educational institutions established by his party as a model.
In addition to the economic issues, he demanded the release of all political prisoners in Pakistan, urging the government to address the grievances of the nation.
