Leaders of Jamrud Political Alliance, Maulana Seed, Zarif Khan, and others criticised the provincial government for substandard use of material and corruption in developmental projects.
They said that their aim is not to oppose any political party or any personality, but to protect the rights of the people of Jamrud and highlight the basic problems of the area. They announced that a peaceful protest will be held on Monday in Bab-e-Khyber, Jamrud, against substandard development works, alleged corruption, poor performance of government departments, and non-provision of basic rights to the people.
The leaders said that it is the responsibility of all government departments to perform their services honestly, with integrity, and in accordance with the law. They demanded that the Deputy Commissioner of Khyber should effectively monitor the performance of all departments and ensure immediate redressing of public grievances.
They said that the public has reservations about the quality of various development projects underway in Jamrud, and various basic problems still exist. Our struggle will continue to resolve these issues, and every constitutional and peaceful method will be adopted for the rights of the people.
The Jamrud Political Alliance also appealed to the workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to support the resolution of the public issues of Jamrud instead of giving political colour to this protest, as this movement is not against any party but is for the public interest.
The leaders said that various videos and audio materials related to alleged corruption and substandard work are available on social media. They demanded that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, since the provincial government belongs to their party, should take immediate steps to resolve the issues of Jamrud and review the performance of the relevant institutions.
They added that if the public issues are not resolved, the scope of the protest will be further expanded.
