ISLAMABAD: In a major diplomatic push to de-escalate the month-long conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran, Pakistan is today hosting a high-stakes meeting of the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt.

In a high-stakes diplomatic gamble to pull the region back from the brink, Pakistan is today hosting a heavyweight quadrilateral of foreign ministers to broker a ceasefire in the escalating conflict involving Iran.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty arrived in the federal capital late Saturday, while Saudi Arabia’s Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud is expected to join the deliberations later today.

While the United States and Iran are not officially at the table in Islamabad, Pakistan has confirmed it is actively relaying responses between the two warring parties. The foreign ministers are also scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to align their strategies before the next round of indirect negotiations.

The foreign ministers of Egypt and Turkiye have arrived in Islamabad to participate in a high level four nation conference aimed at resolving the ongoing tensions in the Middle East region. The conference will also focus on the possibility of a ceasefire with Iran. The conference will be chaired by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on March 29 and 30.

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, the Foreign Minister of Egypt, was warmly received at Islamabad airport. He arrived to participate in the conference of foreign ministers of the four nations at the invitation of Ishaq Dar. This was followed by the arrival of Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Islamabad. He was received by Additional Foreign Secretary of Afghanistan and Western Asia Syed Ali Asad Gilani.

The conference will be attended by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, and Pakistan.
