ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has imposed a two-month ban on swimming in several dams, rivers and nullahs across the federal capital, citing serious risks to public safety.
According to an order issued by Additional District Magistrate Islamabad Dr Anam Fatima on September 8, swimming has been prohibited at Rawal Dam, Simly Dam, Swan River, Korang Nullah, Angori Road Nullah, Chattar Park Nullah, Shadara and Sunday-Mar Dam, as well as other nullahs in Islamabad.
The order was issued under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1898, following reports of people swimming at the designated locations. The administration described the activity as extremely dangerous and noted that incidents had also been reported.
The prohibition has taken immediate effect and will remain in force for two months. Relevant authorities have been directed to ensure strict enforcement and take legal action against violators.
The administration has also ordered the ban to be widely publicised through the official gazette, newspapers and other media, while copies of the order are to be displayed at police stations, courts and other prominent locations across Islamabad.
