ISLAMABAD: Keeping in mind the security and traffic situation in the capital, entry of all types of heavy traffic has been banned from today until further orders.

According to Islamabad Traffic Police, all entry points of the Red Zone except Marriott and Margalla Road will remain completely closed for all types of traffic.

Announcing alternative routes for citizens, the Traffic Police has said that traffic from Koral to Faizabad Expressway, Murree Road and Club Road will be diverted to different places, while Srinagar Highway will remain completely closed for traffic from Zero Point to Dhokari Chowk.

According to officials, traffic coming and going from Faisal Avenue to Zero Point will be diverted to Ninth Avenue.

In case of closure of Koral Chowk from Zero Point, citizens should use Srinagar Highway and Ninth Avenue as alternative routes.

In case of closure of Park Road from Club Road, traffic will be diverted towards Taramri Chowk, while citizens coming and going from Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi have been directed to use Korang Road, Bani Gala and Lahtrar Road.

Islamabad Traffic Police further said that citizens coming and going from Rawalpindi Saddar to Islamabad should use Karnal Sher Khan Road.

Heavy traffic going from Peshawar to Lahore will take the Rawat route via Taxila Motorway and Chak Belly Road.

Similarly, heavy traffic going from Lahore to Peshawar will use Rawat, Chak Belly Road, Chakri Interchange and Motorway.

Traffic Police has appealed to citizens to get the latest information from Islamabad Traffic Police WhatsApp channel or FM 92.4 for guidance before traveling.
