ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a 50-minute telephone conversation with Shehbaz Sharif, during which he expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s leadership role in regional peace initiatives, according to an official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

In the course of his conversation, the president of Iran was thankful to PM Sharif, Asim Munir and Ishaq Dar for their ‘contributions’ towards maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The leaders talked about the current situation in the region and shared their views on diplomatic efforts made to bring peace and stability in the region. They were of the view that the two countries would cooperate in future as well to ensure peace and stability in the region.

President Pezeshkian was appreciative of the involvement of the Iranian delegation in the April 11-12 discussions in Islamabad and believed that relations between Pakistan and Iran would get deeper and stronger in the coming days.

Prime Minister Sharif reiterated his country’s commitment to peace and security in the region. He told that Islamabad was committed to continuing dialogue and diplomacy as its preferred way to resolve issues in the region.

The prime minister also briefed the Iranian president on his recent diplomatic engagements with world leaders, noting that these interactions had helped build broader consensus in support of sustainable peace.

Sharif further appreciated the constructive discussions held during the visit of Pakistan’s military leadership to Tehran and conveyed respectful greetings and good wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact and continue cooperation on matters of mutual interest, particularly regional peace and stability.

Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi praises Pakistan’s role in ceasefire efforts on Iran

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has praised Pakistan’s role in efforts aimed at ending the war imposed on Iran and achieving an immediate ceasefire.

According to a statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Araghchi praised Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives, particularly its efforts in hosting negotiations and promoting peace and stability in the region.

Earlier in the day, Araghchi, accompanied by a high-level delegation, held a key meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir.

During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on bilateral relations as well as the overall regional situation.
