ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar issued a formal statement this Tuesday evening, providing a status update on the Islamabad Peace Talks as of 1930 PST.
The Minister confirmed that a formal response is still awaited from the Iranian side regarding the confirmation of their delegation’s attendance. Despite the pending confirmation, Pakistan continues to act as a mediator, maintaining constant contact with Iranian officials and strictly pursuing a path of diplomacy and dialogue to resolve the current situation.
The Minister highlighted the urgency of the matter, noting that the existing ceasefire is scheduled to end at 4:50 am PST on April 22.
He underscored that a decision from Iran to attend the talks before the expiration of this two-week ceasefire is critical for the peace process. Minister Tarar concluded by stating that Pakistan has made sincere, ongoing efforts to convince the Iranian leadership to participate in this second round of talks, and these diplomatic endeavours remain in full motion as the deadline approaches.
