Apple has confirmed that the first public beta of iOS 27 will be released later this month, although the company has not announced an exact date.
Apple has followed a similar schedule in recent years, with public beta versions usually becoming available in mid-to-late July. Once the public beta is released, users with a compatible iPhone can install it for free by joining Apple’s Beta Software Program at beta.apple.com.
After signing up, they can go to Settings, then General, Software Update, and Beta Updates, select iOS 27 Public Beta, and follow the on-screen instructions. If the update does not appear, restarting the iPhone may solve the issue.
Users who do not want to wait can already download the iOS 27 developer beta for free. Apple has warned that the public beta may still contain bugs and performance issues, even though it is more stable than the developer version.
Some apps may not work properly, and features such as CarPlay could also experience problems. The company recommends backing up your iPhone before installing the beta and, if possible, using a secondary device instead of your main phone.
iOS 27 will support the iPhone 11 and newer models. However, Apple Intelligence features, including the redesigned Siri, will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and newer devices.
Apple has also introduced a waitlist for the new Siri experience. After installing iOS 27, users can join the waitlist through the Settings app, although approval may take several weeks.
In addition to the upgraded Siri, iOS 27 brings a refreshed Liquid Glass design, better performance, improved child safety features, and several other system enhancements.
