Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed immigration authorities to deny boarding to passengers carrying incomplete, invalid or unverified travel documents.
The interior minister issued the instructions during his visit to Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, where he inspected immigration counters and reviewed the procedures for passengers travelling abroad.
During the visit, Naqvi interacted with passengers and asked about the immigration process, the problems they faced and the facilities available to them. He also personally checked the travel documents of some passengers and had their verification carried out on the spot.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made by the airport immigration team, noting that the deployment of additional staff at immigration counters had helped eliminate long queues and made the travel process easier for passengers.
Naqvi particularly appreciated the efforts of Airport Immigration Deputy Director Shehzad Akbar for the arrangements and performance.
He directed immigration officials to provide all possible facilities to passengers during the immigration process so they do not face unnecessary difficulties.
However, he made it clear that no passenger carrying incomplete, invalid or illegal travel documents should be allowed to travel.
