As cybercrime continues to rise, protecting mobile SIMs and digital accounts has become increasingly important to prevent unauthorised access and financial losses.

With the rapid growth of social media, cybercriminals are using various methods to target unsuspecting users and gain access to their personal and financial information.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued an advisory urging users to take steps to secure their SIMs and digital accounts linked to their mobile numbers.

According to the advisory, an unused or recycled SIM number could expose a user’s social media and financial accounts to unauthorised access.

The PTA advised users to keep their mobile numbers updated, remove old links associated with unused numbers and activate strong security features to protect their identity, finances and legal interests.

Users were also urged to remain vigilant and regularly review the accounts and services linked to their mobile numbers.
