ISLAMABAD: The federal capital and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continued to experience hot and hazy weather on Tuesday, with temperatures hovering in the mid-30s and air quality remaining in the unhealthy range for sensitive groups.
According to the Met Office, Islamabad recorded a maximum temperature of 34°C and a minimum of 24°C. The city remained under a layer of smoke throughout the day with humidity at 70%. The Air Quality Index stood at 140, classified as “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.” Officials advised people with respiratory issues to limit outdoor activities.The weather is expected to remain largely unchanged on Wednesday with a high of 34°C and a slight 10% chance of rain.
Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, plains and southern districts saw the hottest conditions.Peshawar, Mardan and Kohat recorded highs between 34°C and 36°C under mostly sunny skies. Bannu and D.I. Khan were the warmest with temperatures reaching up to 38°C.In northern areas, the weather was relatively pleasant. Abbottabad and Mansehra reported highs around 30°C, while Swat, Dir and Chitral remained cooler with maximums between 24°C and 29°C.
Meteorologists said dry weather is likely to continue in most parts of the province. However, isolated clouds and a slight chance of light showers cannot be ruled out in the upper districts of Swat and Dir on Wednesday evening. Authorities have urged citizens to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun and polluted air during peak hours.
