TAXILA: The mystery surrounding the killing of Shamsu Bibi, also known as Ayesha Gilamana, a well-known social media personality in Taxila, has been solved, with police arresting five suspects, including the victim’s father and brother.
SSP Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob said at a press conference that police traced the suspects with the help of footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras and human intelligence. According to police officials, the suspects attempted to portray the killing as something else and mislead investigators. However, based on evidence and the investigation, police arrested all five suspects.
Initial investigations have revealed that Shamsu Bibi, also known as Ayesha Ghulamna, was allegedly killed in the name of honour. According to the SSP Operations, the victim’s father was the complainant in the case, but his role became suspicious during the investigation, and he was subsequently named as a suspect himself.
Police have arrested the victim’s father Fazal, brother Bashir, cousin Ehsan, father’s uncle Rozi Khan, and Yaseen, the son of her cousin.
According to police, the investigation revealed that TikToker Ayesha Gulamena’s murder was allegedly planned by her father and brother, along with their accomplices, in their native area of Lower Dir. Police said some members of the victim’s family disapproved of her social media activities. The victim’s sister, who was injured in the incident, was also questioned as part of the investigation.
The SSP Operations said the complainant had confessed to the killing, describing it as an unusual situation in which the person who initially reported the murder was later found to be one of the suspects. Police said further questioning of the arrested suspects is underway to determine the motive and establish the complete circumstances surrounding the killing. The SSP Operations said the suspects would be challaned with solid evidence and that police would seek their punishment in accordance with the law.
