ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has launched the Global Scholars Network (GSN), a digital platform designed to connect Pakistani diaspora academics, researchers, professionals, and international experts with universities across the country.
Developed by the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), the platform will serve as a central hub for academic collaboration, enabling higher education institutions to engage with global experts for teaching, research, innovation, and institutional development.
Through the network, overseas Pakistani scholars and professionals will be able to contribute voluntarily in areas including PhD supervision, collaborative research, guest lectures, workshops, faculty development, curriculum enhancement, innovation projects, and industry-academia partnerships.
According to the HEC, the platform allows experts to create comprehensive professional profiles highlighting their academic qualifications, research interests, publications, professional experience, and areas of specialisation. After verification and approval, these profiles will be accessible to universities across Pakistan, helping institutions identify and connect with suitable experts for academic and research collaborations.
The commission said the Global Scholars Network replaces fragmented and manual engagement processes with a unified, transparent, and technology-driven national platform, making it easier for universities to leverage the expertise of Pakistani scholars and professionals based abroad.
Using the platform, universities will be able to search verified experts by discipline, specialisation, country of residence, experience, and field of expertise. Institutions can also submit collaboration requests, manage ongoing engagements, and monitor outcomes through an integrated digital system.
The HEC said the initiative is expected to strengthen international academic cooperation, promote knowledge exchange, and harness the expertise of the Pakistani diaspora to support the development of the country’s higher education sector.
