PESHAWAR: At least six people have been killed and 19 others injured after heavy rains, strong winds, and flash floods triggered widespread destruction across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The PDMA said the deceased include two men, one woman, and three children, while the injured comprise seven men, one woman, and 11 children.
The severe weather also damaged 38 houses across the province, with 36 sustaining partial damage and two being completely destroyed.
According to the authority, the incidents were reported in the districts of Khyber, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Mardan, Shangla, Bajaur, and Lower Chitral.
The PDMA said it is coordinating closely with Rescue 1122, district administrations, and other relevant departments, with relief and rescue operations continuing in the affected areas.
The disaster management authority has directed district administrations in the affected districts to expedite relief efforts and ensure the immediate provision of assistance and essential supplies to affected families.
Director General PDMA has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist destinations, and strictly follow weather alerts and advisories issued by government authorities.
The PDMA’s Emergency Operations Centre remains fully operational. Citizens have been advised to report emergencies, seek weather updates, or obtain information by calling the toll-free helpline 1700.
