ISLAMABAD: Heavy rain lashed the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Wednesday inundating low-lying areas, flooding main roads.
The downpour began early in the morning and continued for several hours. Residents of low-lying areas remained busy draining water from their houses.
According to the Meteorological Department, Rawalpindi received 103mm at Kutchery Chowk, 73mm at Shamsabad, 62mm at Pirwadhai, and 59mm at New Kattarian. In Islamabad, 68mm was recorded at Saidpur, 65mm at Zero Point, 52mm at Golra, and 36mm at Islamabad International Airport. Murree recorded 99mm.
Another report noted an average of 54.51mm in the Nullah Lai basin, with the highest 103mm at Kutchery Chaklala.
The district administration placed, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, and health departments on high alert.
