LAHORE: The Punjab government has formally inaugurated the third batch of Phase Two of the ‘Chief Minister Punjab Climate Leadership Development Internship Programme’, providing the selected candidates with a monthly allowance and professional training.
Under the programme, selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 60,000 for three months.
The objective of the scheme, as per the information provided by the provincial government, is to provide professional training to young graduates and create job opportunities, besides addressing issues of climate change and environment.
As part of the scheme, the selected intern will receive professional training, field exposure and mentoring by experts. He or she will also be involved in practical activities pertaining to climate change and the environment.
To increase women’s participation in the programme, 50 percent of the seats have been reserved for female candidates while separate seats have also been reserved for foreign degree graduates.
Selection of candidates will be done through a merit-based automatic process.
During the internship period, the learners will be provided with access to a state-of-the-art Learning Management System (LMS) portal, inspection at the district level along with the chance to attain international certification from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The interns will also get an opportunity to learn about field offices and policy units of the Environmental Protection Department.
