PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to undertake a major administrative reshuffle in the Communications and Works (C&W) Department, with authorities directed to compile records of officers who have remained in the same positions for extended periods, are holding multiple assignments simultaneously or are serving in posts above their seniority.
According to official sources, the decision will bring about huge transfers and administrative changes in the department. The decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Communications and Works, Shakeel Ahmad.
In the meeting, the Secretary of the C&W Department was told to conduct an assessment of the posting of officers and staff in the C&W Department.
The authorities have been asked to prepare records of those officers who have been sitting in the same post for the last two years. Officers who are holding more than one post at once have also been brought into focus.
Moreover, the department has been instructed to produce information regarding junior officers holding senior posts, as well as those employees who have been entrusted with tasks that are beyond their capabilities or expertise.
The provincial minister has also requested documentation of officers and employees who have been working without any significant tasks for a long period of time. The objective of such an evaluation is to make better use of human resources within the department.
The expected reshuffle is likely to affect a significant number of officers and staff across the department, although no official timeline for the transfers has yet been announced.
