ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved a 35 percent increase in salaries of university teachers serving under the Tenure Track System (TTS), with the revised pay structure coming into effect from July 1, 2026.

The officials informed that the federal cabinet has approved the “TTS Pay Package 2026” after giving the nod to the proposal of the PM, which was presented on September 20, 2021. The TTS Pay Package 2026 contains revised salary scales for the professors, associate professors, and assistant professors who are appointed under the tenure track system.

According to the new pay structure, the minimum salary of a professor under the tenure track system will be hiked from Rs394,875 to Rs407,230 and annual increment has been revised from Rs19,305 to Rs20,320. The maximum salary ceiling of professors has been revised from Rs684,450 to Rs712,030.

For associate professors, the minimum salary has been increased from Rs263,250 to Rs370,810 and annual increment has been increased from Rs15,356 to Rs18,320. The maximum salary ceiling of associate professors has been increased from Rs493,590 to Rs645,610.

The revised package increases the minimum monthly salary of assistant professors from Rs175,500 to Rs288,020. Their annual increment has been raised from Rs12,065 to Rs17,720, while the maximum salary has increased from Rs356,475 to Rs553,820.

The Ministry of Finance clarified that the financial impact of the revised salaries will be covered by universities through their own resources and the federal government will not provide any additional grants for this purpose.

The salary revision is expected to benefit faculty members appointed under the TTS system at public sector universities across Pakistan.
