PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has called for greater cooperation between educational institutions, the government and youth organisations to address the challenges facing young people and fresh graduates across the province.
The governor made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Youth Vision Parliament, led by its Chairman Hafiz Huzaifa Shah, at Governor House in Peshawar. Waheed Ullah, General Secretary and Media Coordinator of Pakistan Youth Vision Parliament, was also present in the meeting.
The delegation presented the governor with findings from a survey conducted on issues confronting youth and fresh graduates in various districts of the province.
The delegation briefed Kundi on the difficulties faced by fresh graduates in finding employment, relations between teachers and students, and the growing spread of fake news and misleading information on social media.
The delegation also highlighted several other educational, social and employment-related challenges confronting the younger generation.
While speaking on the occasion, Governor Kundi opined that young people are a very valuable asset for the country and the province and that educational institutes, government departments and youth platforms have to collaborate and utilize this valuable resource positively.
It is not enough that we provide new graduates with degrees only but we need to ensure that these people are equipped with market-oriented skills, training and jobs.
Building trustful and positive relations between teachers and the students is equally important for enhancing the standard of education.
He raised concerns about the growing phenomenon of fake news on the social media platform, which can be a threat for youth and society.
Governor Kundi emphasized the need to teach the younger generation about media literacy and digital awareness, as well as verification of information.
In the context of healthcare issues in the province, he compared it with the healthcare services provided in Sindh where people can get free treatment from facilities like SIUT without any cash counters.
Governor Kundi opined that it is the responsibility of educational institutes and youth platforms to educate young people about recognizing fake news and accessing the correct information.
He assured the delegation that recommendations concerning youth issues, employment opportunities, and educational and social matters would be taken up with the relevant forums.
The governor also pledged all possible cooperation in efforts aimed at addressing the challenges facing the province’s youth.
