ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has indicated that consumers may soon receive relief in petroleum prices, expressing optimism about a possible reduction in fuel costs.
The minister said the public had borne the impact of the Iran-US conflict, which contributed to higher petroleum prices and placed additional pressure on household budgets.
He said the government remained committed to providing maximum possible relief to consumers, adding that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had directed authorities to reduce fuel prices wherever feasible.
Both our commitment and the prime minister’s instructions are to lower prices to the greatest extent possible, Malik said.
The minister noted that international oil prices were declining amid expectations that Iranian crude oil would remain available in global markets, a development that could contribute to lower fuel costs.
Ali Pervaiz Malik also said that the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Asim Munir and Ishaq Dar were being appreciated internationally.
