PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formally announced a 4-day public holiday across the province on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The Administration Department has also issued an official notification in this regard. According to the notification issued, the Eid-ul-Azha holidays across the province will start from May 26 (Tuesday) and will continue till May 29 (Friday). These will include May 26 to May 29, 2026 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday).
This decision will be applicable immediately to all government offices, autonomous bodies, and educational institutions of the province. According to the Home Department and the district administration, emergency services, hospital emergency departments, and rescue organizations (such as Rescue 1122) will remain alert during Eid and will perform their duties as per their schedule.
It should be remembered that the federal government had announced three holidays for Eid-ul-Azha from May 26 to 28; however, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also included Friday, May 29, as a public holiday for the convenience of the public and government employees from remote areas, which will provide four consecutive official holidays to the citizens of the province.
The provincial administration has directed the deputy commissioners of all districts to ensure strict cleanliness and security arrangements during the days of Eid.
