The Class-III and Class-IV Associations of Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan, have completely rejected the proposal of the university administration to pay half salaries and have strongly demanded the immediate and timely release of full salaries for all employees from Grade 1 to 16.
Yesterday, during a cabinet meeting with Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Naimatullah Babar, the administration, citing financial difficulties, proposed paying half the salary and seeking consent for the remaining amount. On this, both associations, after formal consultation with all employees, unanimously decided and declared any kind of cut in salaries as completely unacceptable and rejected it.
According to the joint stance of the employees, salary is not a donation or a favor, but a legal and fundamental right in return for daily hard work, performance of duties, and timely services. Putting the burden of administrative mismanagement or non-availability of funds on poor employees is extremely unjust, both economically and morally, because half payment will not only affect their household expenses but will also severely affect all means of their children’s education and medical treatment.
Holding the Vice Chancellor and Director of Finance responsible, the associations clarified that the provision of financial resources and administrative discipline is their responsibility, and the punishment for its failure cannot be given to the employees.
The associations have given a final deadline to the administration till September 11, 2026, to release all due salaries in full and have warned that if salaries are withheld under the principle of “No Work, No Pay”, then in response, under “No Pay, No Work”, all constitutional and legal ways will be adopted, including peaceful protest and strike.
They appealed to the Vice Chancellor to understand the sensitivity of the matter and find a transparent solution through mutual consultation so that the industrial and educational peace of the university can be maintained.
