ISLAMABAD: The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has shared information about residence permits in Germany for skilled and educated Pakistani workers seeking employment opportunities in the country.

According to the bureau, Germany has established a formal pathway for talented individuals from around the world to work and live in the country, in view of its strong economy and growing demand for skilled labour.

The residence permit for skilled workers is aimed at providing opportunities to qualified and talented individuals who can contribute to Germany’s workforce and meet the country’s labour market needs.

Under the scheme, individuals may apply if they hold educational qualifications or professional credentials that are recognised as equivalent to the required standards in Germany.

The bureau said applicants seeking employment in certain professions, particularly in the healthcare sector, may also be required to meet specific regulations and obtain relevant professional licences.

Those interested in working in such fields must therefore fulfil the prescribed requirements concerning their professional qualifications and relevant licences.

According to the information issued by the bureau, applicants must also have a clear and valid job offer from an employer or company in Germany.

The employment must correspond to the applicant’s relevant education, training or professional skills. The compatibility between an applicant’s qualifications and the requirements of the job is an important consideration, while additional professional or licensing requirements may apply to certain occupations.

The bureau said the residence permit provides a potential route for skilled individuals seeking to use their education and professional expertise to secure employment in Germany.

It advised Pakistanis interested in working in Germany to review their educational credentials, professional qualifications, job offer and any other mandatory requirements applicable to their respective fields before submitting an application for a residence permit.
