LAHORE: Former Pakistan Test cricketer Basit Ali has been hospitalized in Lahore after suffering a heart ailment, with doctors recommending angioplasty, according to reports.

The 55-year-old former cricketer and cricket analyst is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Lahore.

Basit Ali, who has also done coaching work, played Test cricket for Pakistan in 19 Test matches during 1993 to 1996. The right-hand batter has also played 50 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Pakistan.

More information on his health status and when he would undergo the recommended treatment could not be obtained.

Basit Ali is still involved in cricket even after he retired from professional cricket.
