PESHAWAR: Flour prices continued to rise in Peshawar, with the price of a 20kg bag increasing by Rs250 in just two days to exceed Rs2,900, adding to the financial burden on consumers.

Prices of various flour varieties, including fine flour, special flour, mixed flour, red flour and refined flour have also increased in the open market, further intensifying the cost-of-living pressures on households.

Meanwhile, tandoor owners have reduced the weight of bread, citing rising production costs. Bakers said the continued increase in flour prices was primarily driven by disruptions and restrictions affecting flour supplies from Punjab, which have significantly impacted both the cost and weight of bread.

Residents expressed concern over the sharp increase in flour prices and questioned the administration’s response to the situation.

They urged the authorities to take immediate action against profiteering and ensure the availability of flour at officially notified prices to provide relief to the public.
