The Bureau of Statistics has released a fresh weekly inflation report, according to which a further increase in the inflation rate was recorded in the country.

According to the report, the inflation rate increased by 0.79 per cent during the week, while the overall rate on an annual basis has reached 15.16 per cent.

The report states that during the recent week, the prices of 22 essential commodities increased while the prices of 14 commodities decreased.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, the price of chicken increased by 12.82 per cent, while diesel became more expensive by 5.10 per cent. Similarly, flour was recorded as expensive by 3.42 per cent and petrol by 1.66 per cent.

The price of fresh milk increased by 1.33 per cent, while beef increased by 0.65 per cent, mutton by 0.50 percent and potatoes by 0.48 percent. On the other hand, the price of tomatoes decreased by 7.08 per cent, while garlic became cheaper by 1.19 per cent.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, eggs became cheaper by 1.22 per cent, LPG by 1.08 percent and onions by 0.38 per cent. A slight decrease was also recorded in the prices of gram, masoor, and jaggery, while there was no change in the prices of 15 items.
