Flour prices have increased across the country, adding to the financial difficulties faced by consumers, particularly low-income households.
In Multan, flour is being sold at around Rs130 to Rs135 per kilogram, while the price of a 15kg bag has reached approximately Rs2,000 in different areas. Some consumers reported paying as much as Rs2,100 for a 15kg bag.
The increase has further strained household budgets as people are already struggling to meet their daily expenses. Low-income workers, particularly daily wage earners, have been among those most affected by the rising cost of basic food items.
Consumers said it had become increasingly difficult to manage household expenses amid continued inflation and urged the government to take immediate steps to bring down flour prices.
Flour dealers said sales had declined as consumers’ purchasing power had been affected by rising prices. They maintained that they were selling flour at wholesale rates with limited profit margins, but continued price increases were also affecting their businesses.
Citizens have called for effective measures to control flour prices and provide relief from the rising cost of essential commodities.
