RAWALPINDI: Pakistan defeated Australia by five wickets in the first One-day International at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, successfully chasing a target of 201 runs in 42.3 overs.
Chasing 201, Pakistan lost Sahibzada Farhan for 28 and Moaz Sadaqat for 8 runs.
Babar Azam scored 69, while Mohammad Ghazi Ghori contributed 65 before both were dismissed. Salman Ali Agha added 6 runs.
Arafat Minhas remained unbeaten on 18, while Abdul Samad stayed not out on 0 as Pakistan completed the run chase with five wickets in hand.
For Australia, Nathan Ellis claimed two wickets, while Matthew Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne and Tanveer Sangha took one wicket each.
Earlier, Australia had set Pakistan a target of 201 runs after being bowled out for 200.
With the victory, Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
